Yesterday I did some tourist stuff: I visited the Golden Gate Bridge and Haight-Ashbury (the famous Hippie-Part of SF) with a group from the hostel . Unfortunately I spend too much time in the sun and got a sun-burn.
The girl from the Hostel who guided us to the city walk told us that there are no bad neighbourhoods in San Francisco. Beside the Tenderloin - good to know, because my street is on the north border of Tenderloin. Now I know why I always uncomfortable in the area south of my place.
So today, I decided to stay as much in the shadow as possible. First I visited the Financial District and South of Market, because there are a lot of skyscrapers, so it was no problem to stay in the shade. After this I was in the Golden Gate Park. Every sunday a big part of the John F Kennedy Drive is completely closed for cars, so bikers, skaters and joggers conquer the street. Very cool and relaxed atmpsphere. Instantly I was annoyed that I left my inline skates in the hostel. So I took a little walk and I discovered a very cool thing: Lindy in the Park - Free Swing Dancing Every Sunday in Golden Gate Park. It was amazing what a cool party it was just in the park. Such a happy and relaxed atmosphere - unbelievable. Now I have the problem that every sunday two very cool things happen: The closed JFK Drive where I want to skate and the Lindy in the Park.
